Yaaru

In Egyptian myth, Yaaru are the fields of the nether-world, located in the realm of the dead, the domain of Osiris.  It is a beautiful place (an equivalent of Eden) were those who have past can perform their favorite activities. These fields are tilled to provide them  with food. It is represented as a vast field of wheat, symbol of life. Yaaru is situated in the east where the sun rises, but is sometimes also referred to as a group of islands.   Legend has it that this is the place just beyond the Rainbow Bridge where all Basenji's run and play while waiting to be rejoined with the ones they love.  When we think about the favorite things our "kids" liked doing, rest assured that they are doing those very things in Yaaru right now.

Don't grieve too long, for now I am free

I am following the path God set for me

I ran to Him when I heard His call

I wagged my tail and left it all.

I could not stay another day

to bark, to love, to romp or play

Games left unplayed must stay that way

I found such peace, it made my day.

My parting has left you with a void

So fill it with your remembered joy

A friendship shared, your laugh, a kiss

Oh yess these things I too shall miss.

Be not burdened by times of sorrow

I wish to you the sunshine of tomorrow

My life's been full, you've given so much

Your time, your love, your gentle touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief

Don't lengthen it now with undue grief
